The San Diego Museum Council (SDMC), with lead art curator Danielle Deery, has paired nine San Diego County museums with local artists to create mural concepts inspired by each museum’s mission and vision. The artists’ works will be revealed at a new exhibition entitled Muse: San Diego Museum Murals, which opens at the La Bodega Gallery in Barrio Logan on June 17.
The Council generated this creative concept in an effort to bring the museum community together in an authentic way that celebrates Barrio Logan’s heritage and vibrancy. For instance, just beneath the Coronado Bridge is Chicano Park where you can find some of the most powerful and vibrant murals in California. These murals, which explore the important contributions made by Mexicans, Spaniards, and Mexican-Americans in our region, served as the inspiration for this project.

The La Bodega Gallery is located at 2196 Logan Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113. The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 12-6 PM from June 17-30.
