What’s a grizzly bear doing on the beach? We’re glad you asked.
It’s one of the first things you’ll see when you visit the new exhibition at theNAT: Coast to Cactus in Southern California. A statue of a mother grizzly bear and her cubs, standing on a local beach, the way they might have been seen more than 100 years ago.
She reminds us all about this amazing place in which we live. And even though the grizzlies are gone, we continue to share our space and our lives with an incredibly diverse number of animals and plants.
Now you can experience all the environments that make up this place we call home—the coastline, valleys, mountains, deserts, and more. It’s all in Coast to Cactus.
You’ll spend time on a patio overlooking a San Diego canyon, exploring how humans share space with animals. A multi-media experience captures the magic of the desert at nighttime, complete with Airstream trailer. And a larger-than-life “storybook” explains how fires are a natural part of life here.
It’s a whole new way to see San Diego. Now see it all in one place. Visit Coast to Cactus in Southern California, a new, permanent exhibition now open at theNAT.
